Seatone®  capsules contain a unique extract of green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) that can only be found in the clean waters surrounding New Zealand. Published research has demonstrated the beneficial effects of Seatone®  capsules for joint care.

 

Mussels are farmed in several parts of New Zealand, but mussels for Biolane GLME are obtained almost exclusively from the Coromandel coast. This isolated peninsula, east of Auckland produces some of the highest grade mussels in New Zealand. Both the water quality and the shellfish quality are regularly monitored in Government laboratories. In addition to this, McFarlane (manufacturers of Seatone® ) carry out further microbiological and physical testing to ensure that the final product meets the highest international standards.

 

When the mussels reach peak condition at around 18 months of age, they are harvested and shipped live in refrigerated trucks to the factory in Auckland. This facility is constructed to pharmaceutical industry standards and has New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture, US FDA and EU registration. On arrival, the mussels are transferred to cool storage and processed through a unique extraction process. The liquid extract is then immediately transferred to trays and snap frozen in preparation for freeze drying in one of four microprocessor-controlled high capacity freeze driers. The dry extract is milled to produce a fine powder and encapsulated into hard gelatine capsules.

Biolane Green Lipped Mussel Extract acts on the body in different ways to help keep joints supple and mobile. It has an anti-inflammatory effect on the surrounding soft tissue and helps to reduce pain. Components in the GLME combine with water in the joints to act as 'shock absorbers' and 'lubricants' in the joint. Joint cartilage which surrounds and protects the bones in joints can be subjected to natural wear and damage as part of the ageing process, Biolane GLME helps to protect cartilage by delaying or inhibiting damage. Biolane GLME is also gentle on the stomach.

Seatone contains a unique purified green lipped mussel extract which contains a rich blend of naturally occurring proteins, minerals and omega 3 fatty acids including glycosaminoglycans (glucosamines, chondroitin sulphate) which are used by the body to build up cartilage.

This combination of actives give Seatone a wider spectrum of action compared with glucosamine sulphate and chondroitin.
