Botanical Name:  Melissa Officinalis 

True Melissa has a delicate, lemony, herbaceous aroma which uplifts and comforts the mind. Its subtle and sweet scent is pale yellow to clear in colour. It is uplifting and calming and also good for the digestive system. 

We are delighted to have found an excellent source of True Melissa oil, produced in very small quantities in Southern Ireland. 

We also produce a blend of essential oils, including Lemon, Lemongrass and Citronella, which has a similar aroma, called Melissa Type.

Plant Family: Lamiaceae (Labiatae).

Method of Extraction: The oil is steam distilled from from the leaves of the herb.

It is pale yellow to clear in colour.

Melissa has been known for hundreds of years in Europe, sometimes as Balm or Lemon Balm. Unfortunately, it is one of the most adulterated and copied essential oils and genuine Melissa oil makes up only a small fraction of the amount that is sold commercially.
